Glen Rumsey: Bio

I’m mostly interested in painting things that I find in nature, either from my garden, or in still photos. I find it astonishing that things can grow from nothing into something so perfect, so symmetrical, so wonderfully designed, and no one can claim it as theirs.

The act of painting is definitely something I enjoy and find incredibly comforting. I try to find new ways of seeing recognizable things. I like to discover beauty in the ugly or ominous, as well as in the light and colorful.

Glen Rumsey was born in Greensboro, NC. He graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts in 1992 and moved to New York City a week after graduation. He lives in Brooklyn, NY.
